HIGHLAND PARK – The Board of Trustees of the Healthcare Foundation of Highland Park announced its 2018 grant awards. During the coming year, close to $7 million will be given to 64 deserving 501(c)(3) organizations that are committed to improving healthcare and quality of life of individuals in the geographic area served by NorthShore Health System Highland Park Hospital, formerly Highland Park Hospital.

Since its inception in 2000, the Healthcare Foundation of Highland Park has given more than $100 million to more than 50 organizations, helping the unserved and underserved in our community receive healthcare related services. Yearly, $4 million is granted to Highland Park Hospital to offset the costs of uncompensated care and other clinical programs.

Merle Parker of Highland Park had to stop driving a few years ago. And while she tried hiring a personal driver and finding other ways to get around, those efforts didn't work out.

Then Parker found Southeast Lake County Faith in Action Volunteers, giving her help she needed to stay in her Highland Park home.

HIGHLAND PARK – When older adults need a helping hand or a friendly face to turn to, Faith in Action Volunteers fill those needs and more.

“At Faith in Action (FIA) we truly feel like we are a family and we know that one of the hardest calls that an older adult will ever make is calling us and saying. ‘I can’t do it on my own anymore, I need help,’” said Robbie Boudreau, executive director. “When we get that call we make sure it isn’t the hardest call. We are here to give it to you and we won’t make a big fuss about it.”
