Volunteer

Many older residents living in Deerfield, Highland Park, Lake Forest, Buffalo Grove and the surrounding communities need help with issues that are not necessarily health care related. A minor illness may make it difficult to make dinner or walk the dog.  Vision changes can result in the loss of a drivers’ license.  Even a neighbor who lives quite independently at home may be suffering from loneliness and isolation.

The mission of Faith in Action Volunteers is to help our community’s most vulnerable citizens improve their quality of life and maintain their independence longer.  Some of our oldest care recipients have lived in this area all their lives. They want to remain part of an intergenerational, familiar neighborhood while living active, independent, and social lives.  Faith in Action Volunteers provides support with the normal activities of independent living such as transportation, help with grocery shopping and other errands, supportive visiting, reading, respite care and companionship at our unique, social programs.  Since 2003, volunteers have provided more than 75,000 hours of volunteer caregiving.
